7 Lessons I Learnt in 2022 As A Business man
A guide into the 2023 creator economy

Welcome to the Content Chest and today, I'll be talking about the 7 lessons I have learnt in 2022.
I hope these will be useful to you as you finally go into 2023.
Without further ado, let's dive in
Reading time ≈ 3 minutes
I have made a lot of wins in 2022 and also quite a number of losses. I've met amazing people and made a ton of friends and I also had to cut off a lot of people from my life.
Last year was when I became quite serious with building myself and my business and so I would love to share a bit of my journey as an entrepreneur.
My Story as an Entrepreneur in 2022
It was around mid February. I was rounding up for the semester when I came across a business opportunity that a friend of mine talked about on WhatsApp.
He was actually advertising someone else's webinar where I was going to learn about a business venture that you can go into even if you don't have anything of your own to sell.
It was perfect!!!
A year before that, I was already thinking about going into crypto but I didn't have certain things in place. I then let procrastination get the best of me and I wasn't able to go into it in 2021.
Plus, I thought I had time on my hands since I was just 18...
Anyway, back to 2022. After going through the flyer and noticed that the Webinar was actually free. I hoped on to grab the opportunity.
After the webinar, I got to know that the business venture was Affiliate Marketing and that anyone interested in it can start with as little as NGN 40,000 (about $56)
Unfortunately, I didn't have the money at that time so I ended up just letting it go....again.
By March, another friend of mine got the course to learn about this but just wasn't interested. So I told him to give me the course and also access to his account so I can run the business for him.
I was his friend so he obliged....
Fast forward 3 months later, I made my first sale and a couple more by the next month. And then something weird happened.
I got bored of the business.
Bored in the sense that what I was selling weren't mine and that I didn't represent anything.
I was just another affiliate marketer among the many others.
I didn't really like that idea and decided to do something else instead. So I went into consultation.
I was already good as a marketer and so thought I should go ahead and help people become better marketers too.
But that didn't last long as I quickly realized that I didn't have enough social proof to do that.
So I scraped off that idea...
Now, I was getting desperate. I didn't know what else to do.
And by this time, I had already been using Twitter as my main hub for business and this was around August.
I was just tweeting into the void and even if people found them and saw the tweets as valuable, I simply didn't care anymore.
That was how empty I felt after realizing that I didn't have a definite goal or even something I could call a business.
A month down the line, I came across some fantastic people on twitter.
They were growing accounts like me and so we vibed well and thought about creating our very own private community to help each other grow on Twitter.
It was a huge success as we didn't just engage with each other's tweets. We also taught each other so many things and everything combined is what lead to my personal brand today.
Now I don't feel like I wasted my time. I feel fulfilled and I know that I accomplished a lot last year.
Now...
I'm a Content Creator on Twitter and I'm Helping Others Take That Leap as well.
Now that you've gotten the full gist, let's move over to a few lessons I learnt in 2022
7 Lessons I Learnt in 2022 As A Business man.
1) Choose your circle wisely: I initially had issues when I started out as a creator on Twitter. Now I have a lot of friends from Twitter, that support me and give me so many reasons to not give up.
2) Be Open to Learning: I was very knowledgeable and so I thought I already knew all there is to know about sales and marketing. Now I read books, listen to podcasts and watch YouTube videos at any opportunity I get.
3) Save to invest: Every little money I amass this year, I'll be putting 20% of it into savings. At least this way I won't miss opportunities that I can only get by paying for access.
4) Help more people win: The more people you help, the more helping hands that reach out to you when you need them the most. Help people so that they can help you in return.
5) Take some time off work: It's better to work in line with how productive you can be. Don't over work yourself. If you do, you'll only burnout and become fed up with everything. Go on vacations, play video games, watch movies. Anything you can do to take your mind off work for at least 5 hours daily would be perfect.
6) Get a love life: This might seem unnecessary but honestly I think having a second half that truly believes in you and your career can be a game changer for you. To be honest, I haven't quite figured it out yet. But hopefully I can cross this off my to-do list this year.
7) Take journaling seriously: Writing down everything has proven to be very effective for me and some of my friends and even a couple of clients of mine. Write down your thoughts to avoid clutter in your head. This is how you develop productive thinking.
I believe that this will prove useful to you as you start your journey this year. Although I do have one request.
Go to the top of this newsletter and share this with your friends across your social media platforms.
That's the only new year gift I ask of you. Thanks in advance.
