How to form Habits and build consistency

Habits control our lives.
From eating to switching on the light bulb.
These types of actions are subconscious. It'll take us a crazy amount of time and effort to not do them when certain triggers are pulled.
That's basically what habits are; subconscious actions.
But how do we use them to improve our business and even our lives?
Allow me to tell you a story; Ali the college student.

Ali was a college student that wants to be a surgeon when he grows up.
But there was a problem.
He hated reading
The textbooks were too big and overwhelming and the lecturers don't help matters at all. He didn't enjoy reading in the slightest.
How was someone who hated reading going to even pass tests and exams then to talk of becoming a surgeon?
He knew he had to do something about this.
So he decided that he was going to make reading an activity he looks forward to and enjoy doing regularly
He was going to turn “reading” into a habit
So here's what he did…
