How I Won A Prospect's Trust Over A Sales Call

It was a Saturday evening I think.

It was a rainy day and so it was the perfect time to snuggle with my girlfriend…if I had one.

Instead. I was on a sales call.

I was talking to this SEO lady that wanted to grow her brand on twitter.

Guess what she said before I was even done talking.

“That's enough, you've won. How much do you charge?”

It's crazy how good I've become at persuasion in about a year of being an active salesman.

And it's not just her.

Most if my past clients have told me that I was very persuasive during the sales calls before they bought my coaching offer.

I might be a writer. But at the end of the day, I still need to sell SOMETHING in order to make money right?

Well yes, and that's what we'll be covering today.

How to be persuasive on your sales calls (and even your sales letters)

You may be thinking I'm about to give you a bunch of frameworks and hacks.

No I won't…

While those might be helpful. It's certainly better to understand the basics when closing sales.

  • You won't have to rely on templates

  • You're basically a machine that can function even when you're half asleep

  • You'll be able to successfully convince ANYONE within your market with money to pay you for your services.

So here are practices you should be doing to increase conversions.

1. Dress how you want to be addressed:

Most indie entrepreneurs take their sales calls in their PJs or underwear with messy hair and early morning breath.

Disgusting. Try dressing properly.

  • Wear clean clothes

  • Put on some deodorant

  • Have a haircut and keep your hair trimmed.

Especially for the fact that it'll most likely be a video call. Appearing neat (maybe even fancy) will raise your confidence through the roof.

Plus, you'll give off that “responsible” vibe to the person at the other end of the screen.

2. Talk while standing:

In my early entrepreneurship stages…

I would get on calls/spaces/webinars in a sitting position.

Now. I prefer standing.

This is not to look cool or anything like that. But think about this yourself.

When do you feel most confident talking to someone. Sitting down or standing up?

Why do you think presenters on shows are always standing when addressing the crowd.

Heck, even the president of any country stands upright when giving a speech or any kind of public speaking.

If all these figures address their people standing up. So should you.

Your prospect will sense that confidence through your posture and speech so don't mess these up. This is how you become likeable to strangers while talking.

You can always take breaks though.

3. Talk about what your offer can do FOR THEM:

Take note. You're talking to only one person at the time.

Your offer transforms from being the ideal product for people like X to being the offer for person X. Can you spot the difference?

You're no longer on twitter or your email list trying to convince a large number of people.

You're now talking to one person on the call.

So, make sure that your offer is THE ONE for them.

In other words…

Sell to them using their individual problems and wants.

With these. I have no doubt that you'll have no problems turning prospects to customers.

Hope you learnt something new from today's issue.

See you next Sunday
